With a fifth consecutive Frontier Conference Tournament title under its belt, the Lewis-Clark State College women’s basketball team rose from No. 13 to No. 12 in the final regular-season edition of the 2011-12 NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, announced Wednesday by the national office.
The Warriors, now 28-4 overall, garnered 205 points in the poll after earning 168 points in the poll last week.
Westminster, which fell 55-49 in the title game against LCSC on Tuesday, dropped one spot to No. 15. The Griffins are currently 22-8 overall.
Both Lewis-Clark State and Westminster will participate in the 32nd annual Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship, which will be held March 14-20 at Frankfort, Ky. The 32-team bracket for the tournament will be released later today.
For the sixth straight week, Oklahoma City held the No. 1 spot in the poll. Union (Tenn.) remained No. 2, and Freed-Hardeman held at No. 3.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conference and unaffiliated groups. The postseason Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll will be announced on March 26.
