Lewis-Clark State College senior guard Annie Kane received honorable mention honors to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Women’s Basketball All-America Team on Wednesday.
Kane, a product of Lapwai, Idaho, earns the national recognition after averaging a team-leading 14.3 points and 2.5 assists per game in her final collegiate campaign.
“We couldn’t be happier for her,” said LCSC head coach Brian Orr. “Certainly one of the biggest bright spots of the season was the play of Annie Kane. The fact that for three years she was a role player for us makes this honor even more noteworthy.”
After averaging 14 minutes per game as a junior, Kane played 34 minutes per contest in 2012-13, and scored a league-high 16.8 points per game against Frontier Conference opponents. She finished the season ranked 50th in the NAIA in field goal percentage (43.3).
Kane had 20 points or more during seven games including a career-high 32 points against Great Falls, and a 24-point effort against Carroll in her final collegiate contest. In addition, the lone senior on LCSC’s roster turned in a career-high 11 assists against Dickinson State.
Kane was also named a first team all-conference member and an NAIA Scholar-Athlete earlier this month.
