L-C Volleyball Signs
Recruits Kayse Jo Herman, a 6’ 1” middle blocker from Genesee High school, is one of two local athletes that has committed to the Warrior program. “Kayse will add much needed depth at the middle hitter position.” stated head coach Jerry Pruitt. “She has great size and athleticism and once she adapts to the speed of the college game, could be a major presence in the middle for us. ”During Kayse’s 4-year career at Genesee high, she made four consecutive trips to the Idaho state volleyball championships. During that tenure, her teams won one state title and finished runner-up twice. She currently holds the Bulldog school record for kills in a season (294) and kills in a match (17). The second local athlete to sign with L-C is Kynna Randall. Randall, a 5’ 10” product of Culdesac, ID, played for the region all-star team this past fall as a senior. “Kynna brings a mix of raw talent, athleticism and enthusiasm to the program.” said Pruitt. “I expect her to improve every day as she grows and learns on the court. Once she adapts to the speed of the game, Kynna could excel.” Other accomplishments for Randall include a 4.0 g.p.a. Austyn Lewis, a 5’ 11” setter from Caldwell, ID, joins the L-C program following a successful career at Middleton High. Lewis was named to the all-district 1st team, while also receiving honors as a Boise all-star. Head coach Jerry Pruitt had this to say about Austyn “I am looking forward to training a setter with as much potential as Austyn has. Her height and jumping ability will allow our offense to take more risks and will solidify our block on defense. Once trained and in the system, Austyn could be a match-up nightmare for opposing teams”
Mindy
Meyer, a 5’ 6” setter/defensive specialist, played her high school career at
Lakeland high. A four-year letter winner in volleyball, the Rathdrum, ID
product was named to the all-league team in both volleyball and basketball
her junior year, while repeating the same feat the following year.
“Mindy will challenge for the starting setter spot while also eyeing the
libero position. With a great deal of club experience as a setter and
stellar defensive player, Mindy gives us great depth at both positions. ” said Pruitt. “Julie is a pure middle hitter. An excellent blocker and tactical hitter, Julie will be looked upon right away to put her vast club experience to work for the Warriors in the middle. Her consistency and control will be a positive influence on such a young team.” stated Pruitt. The final recruit to join the L-C volleyball team is Lindsey Scott. Scott joins high school teammate Julie Maciboba to the Warrior roster. The 5’ 8” outside hitter received all-conference recognition in both her junior and senior years at Kennewick high. Jerry Pruitt had this to say about Lindsay “Lindsay is a versatile package. Along with strong all around skills, Lindsay brings great energy and enthusiasm to the court. A great passer and defensive player, she is also capable of being a strong hitter for us.” For more on Warrior volleyball visit us at www.lcsc.edu/athletics. |
