JUNIOR COLLEGE:
Had an outstanding
freshman year at Neosho County Community College
in Kansas where she earned National Junior
College Athletic Association’s First Team All
America honors…she also earned all-Jayhawk
Conference and all-district honors and was the
conference’s Freshman of the Year…she recorded
542 kills in 123 games for an average of 4.41
kills per game…Also averaged 3.67 digs per
contest and totaled 451 for the year…helped her
team to a 33-9 record and the division
championship…team lost in the championship game
of the district tournament…just one of two
volleyball players to All America status at
Neosho Country…has tremendous range and a is
very efficient with a fast-arm swing, which fits
perfectly into the faster-pace offense that LCSC
coach Jen Greeny wants to run…should make an
immediate impact in the program and is one of
two NJCCAA All-Americans on the Warrior squad
this season.
TRANSFER TO LCSC:
Is a late addition to the Warrior squad, joining
the team in the final week of August…road to
Lewiston has been full of twists…originally
signed with Pittsburgh State University, an NCAA
Division II school in Pittsburgh, PA., in 2006,
but had to defer her admission to achieve PSU’s
Test of English as a Foreign Language
requirement, and she wound up at Neosho
County…following her big 2006 season at NCCC,
she again signed with Pittsburgh State
University, only to discover that according to
NCAA rules, she would have only one year of
eligibility left….under NAIA rules, she has
three years of eligibility left…. Pittsburgh
State coach Ibraheem Suberu made some phone
calls to coaching friends to find Clemente a
good NAIA school and one of the calls went to a
friend of Greeny, who recommended LCSC to Suberu…NAIA
rules allow Clemente to be eligible this season
at LCSC.
PERSONAL: She
is the daughter of Carlos and Ester
Clemente….has one sister, Aline. |
