LCSC basketball teams to
play in seven tournaments
this season
10-12-07
The Lewis-Clark State
College men’s and women’s
basketball teams will play
in a combined seven
tournaments and face three
NCAA Division I teams in
exhibition games this
season, according to
schedules finalized by the
coaching staffs of both
programs.
Both teams are the defending
regular-season Frontier
Conference champions, while
the men’s team also won the
conference tournament title.
Both teams also participated
in the 32-team NAIA national
tournaments last season.
The teams will kick off
their seasons with
doubleheaders on Oct. 26 and
Oct. 27 at Clarkston High
School.
On Oct. 26, the LCSC women
will meet the University of
British Columbia-Okanagan at
6 p.m., followed by the LCSC
men against Malaspina
University at 8 p.m. The
same pairings will take
place on Oct. 27 with
women’s game at noon,
followed by the men’s game
at 2 p.m.
The games are being played
at Clarkston High School
because of the Idaho State
Class 1A Volleyball
Tournament, which is being
held at the LCSC Activity
Center on Oct. 25-27. LCSC
also has a home volleyball
match against Rocky Mountain
at 7 p.m. on Oct. 26.
The Warrior men, who
finished 26-7 last season,
take part in four
tournaments, including three
on the road. The men’s home
tournament is the Cannon’s
Building Materials
Tournament on Nov. 2-3 and
will feature Southern
Oregon, Cascade, and Carroll
College. LCSC will follow
the tournament with its lone
exhibition game against
Washington State University
in Pullman on Nov. 4.
The Warrior men also will
play in tournaments at Walla
Walla University, Southern
Oregon, and Fort Lewis.
The women’s team at LCSC,
which went undefeated in the
Frontier Conference regular
season and posted a 31-3
mark, will play in three
tournaments, including two
at home. LCSC plays host to
the Staples Classic on Nov.
16-17, and then the Wells
Fargo Invitational on Dec.
7-8, which features Azusa
Pacific and Albertson’s
College.
The Warrior women will play
exhibition games at Boise
State and Idaho State, and
will play in a tournament in
California as well as take a
two-game road swing through
Oregon, both on consecutive
weeks in November.
In conference play, the men
and women will play all
doubleheaders, starting on
Jan. 5 when both Warrior
teams travel to Salt Lake
City to take on Westminster.
One new schedule wrinkle in
the conference is that after
the first half of the league
schedule, teams will have a
free week before resuming
the second half of league
play.
