LCSC lands another top volleyball recruit in LaGrande’s Lyman

12-27-07

The Lewis-Clark State College volleyball program landed their second highly-touted freshman recruit with the signing of Oregon’s Class 4A Player of the Year, Josi Lyman of LaGrande, Warrior coach Jennifer Greeny has announced.

Lyman is a 6-foot-2 right-side hitter and setter. She enjoyed an outstanding senior season at LaGrande High School this past fall, helping the team to a second-place finish at State and a 39-4-2 record. In the state championship game, Lyman had 16 kills and earned all-tournament honors.

"We are very happy to have a player of Josi's caliber commit to our program,” LCSC assistant coach Burdette Greeny said. “Her high character and values represent the epitome of the type of student-athlete and person we want in building the foundation of this program. We are proud of Josi's team and individual accomplishments and look forward to her addition to our team.”

Lyman becomes the tallest player on the LCSC squad. The Warriors have two players on its current roster who are 6-0.

Last month, the Warriors signed their first recruit for the 2008 season with setter Abby Bruya, who helped Colfax High win four straight Washington A State titles and was a three-time all-State selection.

LCSC lost two seniors from its miraculous 2007 club, which was picked to finish sixth in the Frontier Conference. The Warriors won the conference regular-season and tournament titles as well as the Region I title on its way to being seeded ninth at the NAIA national tournament. The Warriors finished the season at 26-8 in Greeny’s first season at the helm.

The two seniors on the team were middle blocker Brittney Kubik and outside hitter Marie Balmer.
