recruit for next season
11-26-07
The Lewis-Clark State
College women's volleyball
program has already signed
its first recruit for the
2008 season as Colfax High
senior setter Abby Bruya has
agreed to play for the
Warriors.
LCSC is the No. 9 seed at
the NAIA National Tournament
this week in Columbia, Mo.
The Warriors qualified after
winning the Frontier
Conference regular season
and tournament titles, as
well as the Region I
Tournament championship in
Spokane earlier this month.
The Warriors have two
seniors on this year's squad
in middle blocker Brittney
Kubik and outside hitter
Marie Balmer.
Bruya comes from a
successful Colfax High
program that won four
straight Washington Class A
volleyball titles. She's
also a member of the
basketball team that has won
three state championships.
"Abby is a phenomenal
athletes that know what it
takes to win," LCSC coach
Jen Greeny said. "She comes
from great high school and
club programs and we are
very excited to have her
join the LC volleyball
family."
Bruya was a first-team
all-state volleyball pick in
2005 and '06 (the 07 team
hasn't been released), and
was a first-team
all-Northeast A League
selection in 2005 and '07.
The volleyball team she
played on won the AAU
National Splash Volleyball
Tournament in Orlando, Fla.,
earlier this year and she
also was on the team that
placed 20th at the Junior
Olympics this year.
Bruya is an all-around
athlete as she participated
in the Washington State
Class A track meet as a
freshman and then earned
first-team all-Northeast A
League honors in golf last
spring.
