LCSC volleyball team opens
FC tournament with sweep
11-9-07
BILLINGS, Mont. – The
Lewis-Clark State College
women’s volleyball team had
little trouble in its
opening match at the
Frontier Conference
Tournament as it disposed of
the University of
Montana-Western 30-15,
30-12, 30-14 on Friday
afternoon.
The Warriors, 19-5 overall,
are the top seed in the
tournament after winning the
conference’s regular-season
title.
LCSC, ranked No. 20 in the
NAIA, jumped out early in
each game to roll past the
Bulldogs, who finish winless
on the season at 0-25.
“I thought we played very
well after we got going,”
LCSC coach Jen Greeny said.
“We were very crisp in the
second and third games. We
hit over .500 in those two
games. Everything was just
clicking for us, which was
nice to see.”
Greeny said she was able to
empty her bench early.
“They were just having a lot
of fun out there on the
court and that’s what it is
all about,” Greeny said.
The Warriors will resume
action Saturday at 10 a.m.
Pacific time in the
semifinals against No. 5
seed Great Falls, which
knocked off No. 4 seed Rocky
Mountain, in the opening
round on Friday. The
LCSC-Great Falls winner will
play in the championship
match at 7 p.m. Saturday,
while the loser will play in
the third-place contest at 5
p.m.
LCSC and Westminster, which
finished second in the
regular season, both have
earned automatic berths into
the Region I Tournament,
which opens next Thursday in
Spokane.
Because of computer problems
at the tournament,
statistics of the LCSC match
were not available.
