LCSC volleyball team is now ranked No. 11 in NAIA poll
Despite winning a tough five-set match in its only action last week, the Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team slipped one spot to No. 11 in this week’s NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 poll, which was released on Tuesday.
The Warriors defeated Westminster last Friday to finish the home portion of the regular season at 11-0 and improve to 24-1 overall. Even so, the Warriors were passed by Northwestern of Iowa, which jumped from No. 11 to No. 9 in this week’s poll with a 26-6 record. Madonna, which was No. 7, fell to No. 10 after losing last week. Madonna is 31-3 overall and received 481 points in the voting, while LCSC received 466.
Fresno Pacific of California remained the No. 1 team for the ninth straight week with a 25-0 mark and drew all 24 first-place votes.
Great Falls was the only other Frontier Conference team to draw a vote with one.
There are still two more polls left in the season. The top 12 teams in the final poll will receive automatic berths to the national tournament in South Dakota, while the other 12 teams will be decided by play-in matches held at various campus sites around the country.
LCSC closes out the regular season this week when it travels to Helena, Mont., on Thursday to face CarrollCollege and then to Billings on Friday to meet RockyMountain. A win in either match would give the Warriors their second straight FC regular-season title. The Warriors also play host to the conference tournament on Nov. 14-15 at the LCSCActivityCenter.
