LEWISTON, Idaho – Getting the early jump in all three games, the Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team rolled past Montana Western 25-10, 25-12., 25-10 in Frontier Conference play at the LCSC Activity Center on Saturday afternoon.
The win keeps the No. 12-ranked Warriors undefeated on the season at 14-0 overall, including 2-0 in league play. Of the 14 wins, 11 have been in three-game sweeps. Montana Western, which went winless a year ago, is now 3-8 and 0-2.
LCSC never trailed on the day and opened leads of 4-0, 5-0 and 5-1 in the three games, respectively.
The Warriors did own the net. LCSC outblocked the Bulldogs 11-4 and also hit .346 for the match, compared to a negative-.019 for Montana Western. LCSC also had eight service aces and won every long rally point.
“I think that shows our players have been trained by great high school and clubs coaches before they came here and they know how to win,” Greeny said. “They do the all the things necessary to be successful.”
Junior Anile Clemente again led the Warriors in kills with 14, a season-high for three games. Dana Christiansen added 11 and hit .579, while Clemente hit .500. Julie Maciboba and Austyn Lewis had five each as 10 Warriors recorded kills.
Lisa Davis paced the Warriors in digs with 16 and also had two service aces, while Maciboba had three aces and Katie Hinrichs two. Lindsay Scott had 12 digs, while Abby Bruya added nine digs and 11 assists. Maciboba led the blocking effort with four, while Lewis added two.
All 16 Warriors played in the match.
Elise Davis led Montana Western with six kills, while Maria Peterson had 13 assists. Kiley Myers added 13 digs.
LCSC returns to action on Friday when it hits the road for the first time in conference play. The Warriors play Montana State-Northern at 6 p.m. on Friday and then face Great Falls on Saturday at 1 p.m.
“We’ve been talking about coming out strong and also owning the net and playing good defense,” LCSC coach Jen Greeny said. “The key for us is to keep that up in order to continue to be successful.”
