After a weekend sweep on the road to start Frontier Conference play, the Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team moved up one spot to No. 12 in the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 poll, which was released on Tuesday.
The Warriors, 7-4 overall, received 454 points in the poll and are only four points away from moving into the top 10. Morningside of Iowa and Azusa Pacific, which LCSC defeated earlier this season, are tied for the No. 10 spot with 458 points.
Fresno Pacific drew all 24 first-place votes to hold down the top spot, followed by Concordia and California Baptist, all of the Golden State Athletic Conference. LCSC lost to all three of those teams as well as No. 8 College of Idaho this season.
GSAC schools continue to dominate the poll with five teams ranked in the top 10 and eight schools in the poll overall.
Fellow Frontier Conference member Carroll College drew 103 votes and was two spots out of cracking the Top 25. Rocky Mountain, also from the FC, drew one vote.
LCSC returns to action this week with its first two FC home matches. On Thursday at 7 p.m., the Warriors entertain the University of Great Falls. All Warrior fans are encouraged to wear blue to the match. On Saturday at 2 p.m., LCSC takes on Montana State University-Northern. Both matches will be at the LCSC Activity Center.
