HAVRE, Mont. - The Lewis-Clark State College women's volleyball team snapped a three-game road losing streak in a big way on Saturday, sweeping past Montana State University-Northern 25-21, 25-15, 25-18 in Frontier Conference play.
It's the second time the Warriors have swept MSU-Northern this season and improved LCSC to 16-7 overall and 8-3 in conference play. LCSC is a half-game behind both Carroll and Great Falls in the conference standings.
LCSC, ranked No. 21 in the NAIA, bounced back from a tough five-set loss at Great Falls on Friday night by again using a balanced attack. Senior middle blocker Dani Barrett led the Warriors with 10 kills and hit .421 for the match. All-American Anile Clemente added nine kills on zero hitting errors. She hit .474 for the match and also had nine digs. Demi Dlouhy added eight kills and a strong .636 hitting percentage.
"We were able to again spread the ball around," LCSC coach Jen Greeny said. "I think our hitting was more efficient today."
The Warriors hit .319 as a team.
Jennika Bird added four blocks for LCSC, while Katie Hinrichs had 12 digs.
The Warriors continue play on the road next week. LCSC wraps up nonleague play by taking on Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash., at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. LCSC then hits the road for the final time in Frontier Conference play by traveling to Salt Lake City to face Westminster on Friday, also at 6 p.m.
