The Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team climbed two spots in the final NAIA Tachikara-NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Volleyball Poll, which was announced on Tuesday.
The Warriors are ranked No. 21 in the final poll with a 20-7 record. The Warriors drew 244 points in the poll and trail No. 20 Lubbock Christian by 15 points.
Fellow Frontier Conference member Carroll College fell four spots to No. 23 after being swept by LCSC last week. Carroll, which finished with a 25-8 record, was only one point behind No. 22 Madonna in the poll.
LCSC, Carroll and Great Falls all tied for the Frontier Conference regular season title with 11-3 records.
Tuesday’s poll is used to help with the selection for the national tournament.
The field for the national tournament will be announced after the conference tournaments wrap up on Saturday and the pairings will be announced Sunday. The top 12 teams receive first-round byes into pool play at Sioux City, Iowa, while the remaining 24 teams will play 12 first-round matches at host sites. Because LCSC is ranked in that second tier of 12 teams (Nos. 13-24) it has a chance of being a first-round host on either Nov. 20 or Nov. 21. Last season, LCSC was a first-round host site when the Warriors defeated Shawnee State to advance to the 24-team pool play portion of the tournament.
The Frontier Conference tournament will be Friday and Saturday at the LCSC Activity Center. Great Falls won the tiebreaker and will be the top seed. Great Falls opens the single-elimination tournament at noon against No. 8 seed Montana Western, followed by No. 4 Rocky Mountain and No. 5 Westminster at 2 p.m. The evening session features No. 2 LCSC and No. 7 Montana State-Northern at 6 p.m., followed by No. 3 Carroll and No. 6 Montana Tech at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, the semifinals will be played at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and the championship match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Tickets prices are $20 for adults and $15 for students and Senior Citizens for a tournament pass. Individual sessions are $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Tickets for the championship match are $10 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens.
For tickets, call the LCSC Ticket Office at (208) 792-2471 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
