Christiansen earns FC Player of the Week honor
11/10/2009

Senior right-side hitter Dana Christiansen capped a strong regular season with the Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team by being named the Frontier Conference’s Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

The 5-foot-11 Christiansen, who is from Idaho Falls, helped the Warriors defeat Rocky Mountain in four sets and then sweep Carroll College to give the Warriors a share of the conference title with Carroll and Great Falls. It’s the third straight year the Warriors have either won or tied for the conference title.

In the 25-18, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20 win over Rocky Mountain, Christiansen had nine kills and hit .200 for the match. She had two digs, two block assists, and two assists. She then celebrated LCSC’s Senior Day by collecting a match-high 11 kills with a .400 hitting percentage in a 25-19, 25-21, 25-20 sweep of Carroll. She also added a block assist, a dig and an assist.

It’s the second time in her four-year career with the Warriors that Christiansen has been named the conference’s Player of the Week. She also won the award during the sophomore season.

Christiansen and the Warriors are preparing for the Frontier Conference tournament, which will be Friday and Saturday at the LCSC Activity Center. Great Falls won the tiebreaker and will be the top seed. On Saturday, the semifinals will be played at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and the championship match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
