Clemente earns AVCA third-team honors
The honors continue for Lewis-Clark State College senior outside hitter Anile Clemente, who was named to the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball All America third team for this season.
Clemente, a 5-foot-10 native of Sorocaba, Sao Paulo in Brazil, earned honors for the third straight year on the team. She also was a third-team selection during her sophomore season and then as a second-team pick last year.
Clemente is one of the most honored players in program history despite being at LCSC for only three seasons. She was a three-time all-Frontier Conference first team selection and twice was the Player of the year. She also is a three-time selection to the American Volleyball Coaches Association NAIA All-Northwest Region team and last season was a first-team AVCA All-American, which marked only the fifth time a Warrior volleyball player had earned first-team All-America honors. The national AVCA honors will come out later this month.
Clemente again led the Warriors in kills this season with 373 and also led the club in service aces with 64. She was second on the team in hitting at .219 and digs with 421.
During Clemente’s three years, LCSC won at least 25 matches every season and won or shared the conference regular-season title all three years. LCSC also won the FC tournament title each year and qualified for the NAIA national tournament. LCSC posted an 81-21 record during Clemente’s three seasons.
