Four members of the Lewis-Clark State College women's volleyball team earned 2010 Daktronics-National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Volleyball Scholar-Athlete status, the NAIA announced on Friday.
Seniors Kim Fong, a setter from Lewiston, and Jenika Bird-Jeppson, a middle blocker from Green River, Wyo., earned the honors for LCSC, along with juniors Kelli Tikker of Nine Mile Falls, Wash., and Lauryn Herrick of Cypress, Calif. Tikker and Herrick are both juniors and both were also first-team all-Frontier Conference picks.
Fong, Bird-Jeppson and Tikker are all seniors in academic standing, while Herrick is a junior. Tikker, however, is only a junior in athletic eligibility.
The NAIA honored a total of 387 volleyball players who were nominated by their head coach.
To qualify, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to quality.
