LEWISTON, Idaho – Burdette Greeny, an assistant coach with the Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball program for the past three years, has been promoted to associate head coach, Warrior head coach Jen Greeny announced on Thursday.
Greeny has been an assistant on his wife’s coaching staff since she took over prior to the 2007 season. During those three years, the Warriors have won or tied for the Frontier Conference title and won the conference’s tournament title all three seasons. The program has an 81-21 record during that time and qualified for the NAIA national tournament all three seasons.
Burdette’s duties with the program include coordinating recruit efforts, various administrative responsibilities, and strength, conditioning, and mental training.
“Burdette is an invaluable part of this program,” Jen said. “He is a firm believer in the ideals of our program and has played a huge role in recruiting and the development of our players, both on and off the court. Burdette prides himself on the whole player development but focuses on serving, passing and defense. LC volleyball program would not be as successful if Burdette was not an integral part of it.”
Burdette then began his coaching career, first with the Pullman Posse Junior American Legion team in 2000 for two seasons, and then with the Pullman Patriots Senior Legion team for five seasons. His Senior Legion team went on to win two regular season league titles and he led them to the program’s second appearance ever at the state tournament.
Burdette and Jen met while at WSU and the couple has two daughters, Lauren and Leah.
The Warrior volleyball team kicks off the 2010 season on Thursday night against Walla Walla University at 7 p.m. in the LCSC Activity Center. The contest is the opening game of the three-day LCSC Invitational.
