Despite suffering its first loss of the season, the Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team moved up four spots to No. 11 in the first Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll of the regular season.
The Warriors, 8-1 on the season, went 3-1 in the Embry-Riddle Labor Day Invitational in Daytona Beach, Fla., last week, defeating then-No. 21 ranked Madonna. The Warriors also defeated Northwestern of Ohio, which drew a vote in the poll, but lost their final match to Oklahoma Baptist, which is now ranked No. 22.
California schools continue to dominate the poll as Fresno Pacific, Concordia, and California Baptist hold down the top three spots. Azusa Pacific and Biola also are in the top 10.
Westminster of Utah is the only other Frontier Conference school ranked at No. 20, but Carroll College is the top team among others receiving votes, while Rocky Mountain also is on that list.
The Warriors open Frontier Conference play this week with their toughest Montana road trip, playing at Carroll on Thursday in Helena, and then Rocky Mountain on Saturday in Billings. Both matches begin at 6 p.m, PST.
