After sitting steady at the No. 11 spot in the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll , the Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team climbed a spot to No. 10 in this week’s version, which was released on Tuesday.
LCSC, 16-1 overall and 7-0 in Frontier Conference play, had been ranked No. 11 for three consecutive weeks. Concordia University of California, which had been ranked as high as No. 4 two weeks ago, lost for the second time in two weeks and fell from No. 7 to No. 16 this week to allow the Warriors to move up a spot.
Taylor University of Indian remained at the No. 9 spot with 466 points, while LCSC had 443 points in the poll. Embry-Riddle remained right behind the Warriors with 433 points.
The Frontier Conference was well represented in the poll with Rocky Mountain, 14-5, overall, coming at No. 22 after receiving votes the previous week. Carroll College slipped four spots to No. 24, while Westminster received votes.
Fresno Pacific, one of four undefeated teams at 16-0, received all 22 first-place votes to hold down the top spot.
With the first half of conference play finished, the Warriors will venture out of FC play this week for their only match. On Wednesday, the Warriors travel to Walla Walla to face Whitman at 6 p.m. LCSC then starts the second half of Frontier Conference play by playing host to Carroll on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m., and then Rocky Mountain on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 2 p.m.
After Wednesday’s match, the Warriors will have six of their final eight contests at home.
The Warriors also will hold their annual fundraiser at Macullen’s restaurant in Lewiston this Saturday at 4-8 p.m. The players and coaches will serve as help staff during the event and proceeds will help the support the V-Club at LCSC.
