The Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team remained at No. 9 because the top 14 spots in this week’s version of the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll remain unchanged, the NAIA announced Tuesday.
There was very little movement in this week’s edition because only one team dropped out of the poll, while several positions remained unchanged.
The Warriors picked up a pair of wins on their final road trip of the regular season to improve 21-1 overall and remain at No. 9 with 476 points. Two Golden State Athletic Conference teams sandwich the Warriors as Azusa Pacific, 23-4, is No. 8 with 502 points, while Concordia of California, 18-5, is 10th with 464 points. GSAC schools dominate the poll with five of the top 10 teams, including top-ranked Fresno Pacific, which earned all 23 first-place votes. Fresno Pacific has been No. 1 for 43 straight weeks and has a 65-match win streak.
There are three undefeated teams left in the NAIA and then two, including LCSC, with just one loss.
Fellow Frontier Conference member Rocky Mountain climbed one spot to No. 19 this week, while Carroll received votes.
The Warriors, who have already clinched no worse than a tie for the conference’s regular-season title and the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament, will be home for their final four games of the regular season, including a pair this week. LCSC, 11-0 in conference and riding a 13-match win streak will play host to Montana State-Northern, 4-6 in conference and 11-9 overall, on Thursday at 7 p.m., and then meet the University of Great Falls, 4-6 and 7-15, on Saturday at 2 p.m.
LCSC needs any combination of one win or one Rocky Mountain loss to win the conference title outright.
The Warriors wrap up the season the following week when they play host to Whitman on Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. and then Westminster on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
The Frontier Conference Tournament also will be held at the LCSC Activity Center on Nov. 12-13. The tournament champion receives an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament.
