The Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team remained at No. 9 for the fourth straight week in the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 poll, which was released on Tuesday.
The Warriors, winners of 15 straight matches, are 23-1 on the season, including a perfect 13-0 mark in Frontier Conference play. The Warriors drew 507 points in the poll and trail No. 8 Azusa Pacific by 11 points.
LCSC closes out the regular season this week by playing host to Whitman College of Walla Walla at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in nonleague play. The Warriors then try to become the first team since the 1999 Warriors to go undefeated in FC volleyball play on Friday when they take on Westminster at 7 p.m.
LCSC will then play host to the two-day Frontier Conference Tournament on Nov. 12-13 at the Activity Center. LCSC will be the top seed and will play No. 8 seed Montana Western at 6 p.m. on Nov. 12. The remainder of the seeding and schedule won’t be decided until after the regular season ends this Saturday.
The big news is the Top 25 poll was that with a loss last week, Fresno Pacific’s streak of being No. 1 came to an end after 43 straight weeks. Lee is the new No. 1 team, while Texas at Brownsville is No. 2 after its win over Fresno Pacific, which slipped to No. 3.
Rocky Mountain is the only other Frontier Conference school ranked as it stayed at No. 19. Carroll also received votes.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences/independent/unaffiliated groups. The next poll will be announced on Nov. 9.
