The Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team slipped four spots to No. 11 in this week’s Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 poll, the NAIA announced on Tuesday.
The Warriors, 7-3 overall, opened Frontier Conference play last week with a split, falling to Rocky Mountain and then defeating Carroll College. Based on the win, Rocky Mountain, 13-2 overall, moved from No. 14 to No. 10 in this week’s poll with 477 points. LCSC has 425 points. A third FC team, Great Falls, is 17-1 overall and ranked No. 25, while Carroll received votes.
LCSC has been without senior middle blocker Nicole Graybeal, who earned NAIA All America honors last season. Graybeal suffered a foot injury during the team’s season-opening tournament and has missed the last six matches. Her status for this weekend won’t be determined until later in the week.
The Warriors hit the road for a pair of conference matches, taking on Montana Western in Dillon on Friday at 6 p.m., and Montana Tech on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Butte.
LCSC senior outside hitter Kelli Tikker ranks No. 41 in the NAIA for kills per game at 3.59 and is 45th in total kills at 147. She also leads the team in digs with 124.
Texas at Brownsville strengthened its grip on the top spot after sweeping away No. 2 last week. The Scorpions (11-0) became this season’s first unanimous No. 1 by taking all 23 first-place votes for 653 total points, the national office announced Tuesday.
