Despite winning the only match it played last week, the Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team dropped three spots in this week’s Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Poll to No. 14, the NAIA announced on Tuesday.
The Warriors, 8-3 overall, swept Montana Western last week and had a 2-0 set lead on Montana Tech last Saturday in Butte, Mont., when a power outage suspended the match.
Despite its solid week, the Warriors fell because fellow Frontier Conference member Rocky Mountain lost last week. Rocky is ranked ahead of LCSC in the regional poll because it defeated the Warriors earlier this year. Because RMC is ahead in the regional poll, it must be ahead in the national poll.
Rocky fell two spots from No. 10 to No. 12, which forced LCCC to fall from No. 11 to No. 14 with 357 points. Taylor of Indiana moved ahead of LCSC with 363 points, while RMC has 399.
Fellow FC member Carroll moved to No. 25 in the poll, while Great Falls, LCSC’s opponent this Thursday, fell out of the poll, but did receive votes.
LCSC plays twice at home this week, starting with the Great Falls match at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The match is White Out Night and all fans are encouraged to wear white to the Activity Center. On Saturday, LCSC plays Montana State-Northern at 2 p.m. and it will be Family Day. Admission is $20 for a family of four, which also includes four hot dogs and four small sodas.
