Warrior volleyball team remains at No. 14
9/27/2011

The Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball, which stands in a three-way tie for first place in the Frontier Conference standings, remained ranked at No. 14 in this week’s Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, which was released Tuesday.

The Warriors swept both the University of Great Falls and Montana State-Northern at home last week to improve to 4-1 in league play and 10-3 overall. The Warriors earned 385 points in the poll and trail No. 13 Taylor of Indiana by 12 points.

Rocky Mountain, which handed LCSC its only league loss, is ranked No. 11 at 16-3 overall, and Carroll is at No. 23, at 11-4 overall. Both are tied with LCSC for the top spot in the conference. With three teams ranked, the Frontier Conference has the second most teams in the poll this week, following six by the Golden State Athletic Conference.

LCSC, which is riding a four-match win streak, returns to action this Friday at home against Westminster at 7 p.m. Prior to the match, the Warrior Athletic Association will hold a free barbecue for all members and for those interested in joining. The barbecue will be at 6 p.m. near the main entrance to the Activity Center.

LCSC senior outside hitter Lauryn Herrick leads the conference in aces per game and is 16th nationally at 0.62. She also is 20th in total service aces with 31.  Teammate Kelli Tikker ranks No. 41 in kills per game at 3.58.
