After being idle last week, the Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team remained at No. 13 in the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, which was released on Tuesday.
The Warriors, 12-3 overall, received 397 votes in the poll and trail No. 12 Biola by six points. LCSC swept Biola in a match in California earlier this season.
LCSC will look to make a jump in the poll, as well as take over the top spot in the Frontier Conference standings, this week when it hits the road for three matches. On Wednesday, the Warriors stop in Butte, Mont., to finish their match against Montana Tech. LCSC won the first two games on the match on Sept. 17 and had a 4-0 lead in the third game when a power line to the Tech gym was cut and knocked out all power. The match was suspended at that point and will resume at 1 p.m. Pacific time.
After the match, the Warriors will resume their Montana road trip and start the second half of conference play on Thursday against Rocky Mountain College in Billings at 6 p.m. RMC won the first match between the two and is ranked No. 9 in the NAIA with an 18-3 mark. That loss ended a 38-match home win streak for LCSC, which played without senior All American Nicole Graybeal. She has since recovered from her foot injury and returned to the court.
Both teams have just one loss in the conference play.
LCSC finishes the road trip of Saturday when it tangles with No. 24-ranked Carroll in Helena at 6 p.m. Carroll is 12-5 overall and alone in third place in the conference at 5-2.
Texas at Brownsville continues to hold down the top spot for the fifth straight week and drew all 22 first-place votes. Concordia of California is No. 2 and is one of six teams in the Golden State Athletic Conference to be ranked. The Frontier Conference has the second-most with three.
