The Lewis-Clark State College volleyball team was ranked No. 10 in the postseason Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Tuesday.
The ranking stands as the eighth time Warriors have been listed in the nation’s top 10 in the 13 polls the NAIA has released over the course of the season. LCSC began the year at No. 7 in the preseason poll in August, received its lowest ranking of No. 14 late in September, worked its way back to be listed No. 7 in early November, and was ranked No. 8 in the final regular season poll on Nov. 13.
The Warriors went 23-6 en route to their fifth straight regular season Frontier Conference championship and fifth consecutive appearance at nationals. At the national tournament, LCSC went 2-2 and advanced to the final 12. The team’s two losses at nationals came against higher ranked teams in Columbia and Azusa Pacific.
Texas at Brownsville celebrated its first-ever national championship in Sioux City, Iowa, on Dec. 3 and was rewarded with the No. 1 ranking. National title runner-up Concordia fell from No. 1 to No. 2.
No. 7 College of Idaho made the biggest splash of teams within the poll as the Lady Yotes jumped five spots thanks to wins over No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan and then-No. 7 Rocky Mountain at nationals. Biola, which the Warriors swept early in the season, made the leap from No. 9 to fifth.
