The Lewis-Clark State College women's volleyball team placed seven players on the 2011 Frontier Conference All-Academic Team, conference commissioner Kent Paulson announced on Sunday.
To be elgible for the team, the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in standing, maintain a 3.0 GPA, and be enrolled at the school the previous two semesters. They also must have participated during the 2011 volleyball season.
The Warrior volleyball program has nine players who meet the qualification standards and seven of those earned the academic honor.
Leading the way were seniors Lauryn Herrick and Kelli Tikker, who both captured the academic honor for the third straight year, the most possible under the standards. Herrick, who is a Graphic Arts/Print Technology major, also was the conference's MVP this past season. Tikker, a Kinesiology major, was a first-team all-league selection this year.
Also earning FC All-Academic Team honors were juniors Liz Clark and Kaylee Rector, and sophomores Chelsea Shears, Marlee Zeman, and Naomi Hernandez.
