SOPHOMORE: Appeared in 24 matches and 72 sets as a defensive specialist…finished sixth on the team in digs with 124…also served occasionally and was seventh on the team in aces with five…one of her best matches was in California against Southern Oregon when she collected a season-high 15 digs and also had an ace…had a season-high three aces in the team’s match against Dordt…was named to the Frontier Conference All-Academic Team.   

FRESHMAN: Played in 33 matches and 73 games…was used mainly as a back-row specialist and finished seventh on the team in service aces with 11…also was seventh in digs with 103 and even had three kills…was used heavily at both the start and the end of the season…had highs of 12 digs twice early in the season against Wayland Baptist and Oklahoma Baptist in a tournament in Florida…also had nine digs against Northwest College at the NAIA national tournament…had season-highs of two assist twice, two service aces four times, and one kill three times…had nine matches with at least five digs.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Valley Christian High in San Jose…was a three-year standout in volleyball…her team reached the California Interscholastic Federation’s Central Coast Section DIV quarterfinals during her sophomore year…during her junior and senior seasons, the team qualified for the Central Coast Section IIII finals and the CIF NorCal playoffs...served as team captain and won the team’s Coaches Award as a senior…also was captain during her sophomore season.

PERSONAL: Born June 29, 1992…parents are Greg and Donna Shears…she has one brother, Casey…played for the City Beach and Stringray club teams…hobbies include camping, hiking, wakeboarding, and hanging out with friends…was an honor student in high school and had a 3.65 GPA...participated in Community Outreach senior year and tutored elementary school children…undeclared major.
