The Lewis-Clark State College volleyball team moved up one spot to No. 24 in the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Poll, released Tuesday by the national office.
The Warriors (12-7 overall, 8-2 Frontier Conference) won a wild five-setter over Westminster College in their only action of the week last Saturday in Salt Lake City.
LCSC is in sole possession of first place in the Frontier Conference, a game ahead of Carroll and two games up on Westminster and MSU-Northern headed into Saturday’s road contest at Montana Tech.
Carroll and Westminster also received votes in the rankings this week, but remained outside the top 25.
Lewis-Clark State received 179 points in the nationwide poll of NAIA volleyball coaches, just four points behind No. 23 Vanguard (Calif.), which the Warriors defeated in five sets back on Aug. 18.
Texas-Brownsville topped the rankings for the ninth consecutive week after extending its NAIA-best winning streak to 27 matches last week. The Scorpions have not dropped a set in conference play, and received 22 of 23 first-place votes in the poll.
Concordia (Calif.) got the remaining first-place vote and earned 632 points, behind the 653 points for Texas-Brownsville.
Lewis-Clark State will be in Butte, Mont. to play Montana Tech on Saturday at 1 p.m., Pacific Time.
