Volleyball Tied for #2 in Current NAIA Top 25 Poll

Lewiston, ID-The Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team is tied at #2, with the College of St. Mary (NE) in the latest NAIA Top-25 poll just released Tuesday, September 19.

Lewis-Clark State (12-0) received a total of 324 points and three first-place votes. The Warriors lost one first-place vote and three points from last week’s poll. The two-time defending national champion, Columbia (MO) College (8-0), stays atop the poll with 10-of-14 first-place votes and 344 points. St. Mary (11-1) picked up the other first-place vote. Dickinson (ND) State (14-1) and Fresno Pacific (8-7) round out the top-five.

Lewis-Clark State went 3-0 last week including two important road conference victories. L-C is 2-0 against ranked teams this year. The Warriors defeated #8 Concordia (OR) University, 3-0, and #25 Biola University, 3-0.

Frontier Conference-rival, Rocky Mountain College (12-1), received 33 points and just narrowly missed being ranked. Both L-C and Rocky Mountain are 2-0 in conference play. Carroll (MT) College (11-3) received eight points.

Other NAIA Region I schools, Southern Oregon (6-2) fell one spot to #19 and Simon Fraser (8-4) received one vote for the Top-25.

The Regional Rankings were also released today with Lewis-Clark State in first-place. Concordia (OR) is second, followed by: Southern Oregon (#3), Rocky Mountain (#4), Carroll (#5), Simon Fraser (#6), Northwest Nazarene (#7), Albertson College (#8), Oregon Tech (#9) and Western Montana (#10).

The Warriors are idle until Friday, September 29th, when they host Westminster College, in a Frontier Conference match, at 7:00 pm in the Warrior Gymnasium.
