Cooper powers Warriors to victory
LEWISTON, ID--The second-ranked Lewis-Clark State College Warriors kept its 19-match winning streak alive by defeating Western Montana, 3-0, in a Frontier Conference match played Saturday night, October 14th, at the Warrior Gymnasium. Tonight was "Senior Night" which marked the final regular-season home match for seniors Regina Cooper (John Day, OR) and Marci Pascua (Grass Valley, CA).
The Warriors (19-0, 8-0 Frontier Conference) was led by Coopers team-high 20 kills and .514 hitting percentage. Cooper also had 12 digs. Sandy Arend (Tacoma, WA) led the defense with 17 digs and added four service aces. Amber Weatherspoon (Athena, OR), nursing a sore shoulder, recorded ten kills. Amy Sturtevant (Ketchum, ID) registered 13 digs and Kim Conder (Puyallup, WA) added 11 kills.
The Lady Bulldogs (9-12, 4-3) was led by Katie Ryans team-high 10 kills. She also added 10 digs defensively. Jennifer Gordon led the Western Montana defense with 14 digs.
The Warriors hit the road for two important Frontier Conference matches against Rocky Mountain College. The first match is Thursday, October 19th at 6:00 pm Pacific and the second match is Friday, October 20th at 3:00 pm. Rocky Mountain has been in the Top-25 during the year.
