Warriors Open with 3-0 Win Over The Clan

LEWISTON, ID--The 25th-ranked Lewis-Clark State College Warriors defeated the Simon Fraser University Clan, 3-0, in the first volleyball match of the Holiday Inn Express Invitational at Warrior Gymnasium, Thursday night. The match was the season opener for both teams.

Senior outside hitter Angela Igoe led the Warriors with ten kills and freshman setter Jennifer Covelli added 25 assists. Kim Conder registered seven digs. Amanda Page tallied six kills and five block assists.

"It was good to get the first win under our belt," said L-C head coach Kip Yoshimura. "This is a great field and it is great to open at home."

Erin Paul led Simon Fraser with 12 kills and Brita Main added 29 assists. Neenah Navasero tallied seven digs.

The Holiday Inn Express Invitational continues on Friday with six more matches. Seattle University opens with #10 Bellevue University at 9:00 AM, Simon Fraser takes on Concordia University of Portland at 11:00 AM, the University of Victoria plays the host, Lewis-Clark State at 1:00 PM, Bellevue takes on Simon Fraser at 3:00 PM, Victoria battles Seattle at 5:00 PM, and Concordia and L-C go head-to-head at 7:00 PM.
