Warriors Defeat Crusaders, Win Tournament

NAMPA, ID--The 25th-ranked Lewis-Clark State College Warriors defeated Northwest Nazarene University, 3-1, to claim the NNU Volleyball Invitational title, Saturday evening at Montgomery Fieldhouse.

The Warriors (7-1) won 30-27, 30-17, 26-30, and 30-19.  Angela Igoe recorded 22 kills and was named the tournament's MVP.  Jennifer Covelli had 61 assists and was named to the All-Tournament team.  Amanda Page added 17 kills and a team-high 12 digs.   Amber Weatherspoon and Nicole Welfel added 15 and 11 kills, respectively. 

L-C's match against Seattle University was not completed due to a flight schedule conflict with Seattle.  The Warriors led two games to none, but the match will not count.

Others named to the All-Tournament squad were: Erin Hellberg and Mindy Swanson of Northwest Nazarene; Erika Sansoni from the Master's College; Andi Fehrer from Carroll College; and, Lizzy Safranski from Seattle University.

The Warriors return to action this weekend at the Concordia University Tournament in Portland, OR.
