Warriors Enter Top Ten
Lewiston, ID-The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released its Top 25 women’s volleyball, Tuesday, September 25th, and the Lewis-Clark State College Warriors are ranked 10th. The Warriors ranking is their highest since October 10, 2000 when they were ranked #2. L-C were ranked #13 in the September 11 poll. There was no poll last week due to the terrorist attacks.
The Warriors (15-1, 4-0 Frontier Conference) garnered 199 points, gaining 23 points in the poll. L-C defeated the University of Montana-Western and Montana Tech last weekend.
There is a new top-ranked team this week, Columbia College of Missouri. They received all 14 first-place votes totalling 350 points. Point Loma Nazarene moves up one spot to #2 and National American moved up three slots to #3. The College of St. Mary remains at #4 while last week’s #1 ranked team, Dickinson State, falls to fifth, after losing a match to National American, 3-1.
From Region I: Concordia (OR) moved up one spot to #8; Northwest Nazarene moves into the poll at #19; and, Frontier Conference-rival, Carroll College, rejoins the top 25 at #25. The Fighting Saints were ranked #24 in the preseason poll.
The Warriors resume conference play this Thursday against
defending conference champions, Rocky Mountain College, at 7:00 PM, and then
will take on 25th-ranked Carroll, on Saturday night, also at 7:00 PM, in Warrior
Gymnasium.
