Warriors Fall to #15
Lewiston, ID-After spending four consecutive weeks at #9, the Lewis-Clark State College women’s volleyball team fell six spots to #15 in the latest National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Top 25 women’s volleyball poll, released Tuesday, October 30th. This is the Warriors lowest ranking of the season, since being ranked #25 in the preseason poll.
Lewis-Clark State (23-2, 12-1 Frontier Conference) had their 20-match win streak snapped in Helena Friday night, in a 3-1 loss to then #19 Carroll College. LCSC then held off Rocky Mountain, 3-2, the following night in Billings. The Warriors still remain in first place, but Carroll is percentage points behind L-C with a 10-1 conference mark.
The top-five remain the same from last week. Columbia College is the unanimous number one team for the sixth straight week. Dickinson State, Point Loma Nazarene, National American, and the College of St. Mary remain #2 through #5, respectively.
Concordia University of Portland remains the top-ranked team in NAIA Region I and are ranked eighth overall for the fifth straight week. Carroll College moves up seven spots from last week to #12.
The Warriors wrap up its regular season this Saturday night with a Frontier Conference match against Westminster College at 7:00 PM in Warrior Gymnasium. Prior to the start of the match, seniors Angela Igoe, Amy Sturtevant, and Amber Weatherspoon will be honored. The Frontier Conference Tournament will be held November 9th and 10th in Butte, MT with the winner hosting the Pacific Northwest Regionals the following weekend.
