Yoshimura Named Regionís Coach of the Year
Warriors Place Three on All-Region Team
Lewiston, ID-The Lewis-Clark State College Warrior volleyball teamís honors continue to roll in. Announced Wednesday, was the 2001 NAIA All-Pacific Northwest Region Volleyball First Team, Second Team, Player of the Year, Defensive Specialists of the Year, and Coach of the Year.
Lewis-Clark State coach Kip Yoshimura was named the regionís Coach of the Year. This marks the sixth time Yoshimura has been the recipient of the regional honor. Player of the Year went to Concordia (OR) University setter, Mindy Wallis. Defensive Specialists of the Year went to: Kelsey Williams, Rocky Mountain College; Andrea Frustaci, Simon Fraser University; and, April Lowe, Southern Oregon University.
Named to the first-team from LCSC were senior outside hitter Angela Igoe (Firth, ID/Firth HS) and freshman setter Jennifer Covelli (Edmonton, Alberta/Salisbury Composite High School). Igoe has been named first-team All-Region three times. Named to the second team was senior middle blocker Amber Weatherspoon (Athena, OR/Weston-McEwen HS). This is Weatherspoonís third selection to the All-Region second-team.
