Warriors Clinch Regular Season Title on Senior Night
LEWISTON, ID--The 15th-ranked Lewis-Clark State College defeated Westminster College of Salt Lake City 3-1 in a Frontier Conference women’s volleyball match, Saturday night, at Warrior Gymnasium. LCSC’s win clinches the regular season title and a first-place berth in next weekend’s Frontier Conference Tournament in Butte, MT.
It was Senior Night at Warrior Gymnasium and fans got to see Angela Igoe, Amber Weatherspoon, and Amy Sturtevant play in their final regular season home match. The Warriors (24-2, 13-1 Frontier Conference) was led by Igoe’s team-high 23 kills and 15 digs. Igoe eclipsed the 20+ kill plateau in a match for the 31st time in her career. She holds the school record in that category. Amanda Page added 12 kills and four service aces while Weatherspoon and Amy Flaig each had ten kills. Jennifer Covelli tallied 54 assists. Sturtevant recorded ten digs.
Lindsay Dumas led the Lady Griffins (7-15, 3-10) with 12 kills. Sasha Smith paced the defense with 13 digs and Julie Thompson added 31 assists. Liz Thompson recorded six total blocks.
Pairings for the Frontier Conference Volleyball Tournament are expected to be announced some time on Sunday.
