cross country recruit
1-8-08
Lewis-Clark State College cross country
coach Mike Collins added his third recruit
in a week on Tuesday with Deary High School
senior Jonathan Dalton signing a national
letter of intent to run for the Frontier
Conference champion Warriors next falls.
Dalton
is the second athlete from Deary currently
in the cross country program. Kelsie Eggers,
a freshman, competed for the Warriors last
fall.
“Jon
comes into our program with a very good high
school resume and we believe that once he is
in an environment with a lot of other
similarly talented runners he will blossom
out even more,” Collins said. “He has
already had some great success in high
school.”
Dalton
won the 1,600 title at the Idaho State 1A
Track and Field championships last spring.
In the same meet, he was also second in the
3,200 and fourth in the 800.
He
also finish fifth at the Idaho State Cross
Country championships last fall and was
sixth his junior season.
“He is
also an extremely good student and we are
very excited to see him become a part of our
program,” Collins said.
