LCSC signs
third women’s cross country recruit in a
week
2-4-08
Lewis-Clark State College cross country
coach Mike Collins has signed his third
recruit in a week for the 2008 women’s
season with Sheree Barbour of Highline
Community College agreeing to run for the
Warriors.
Barbour earned All-American status twice in
cross country and once in track at Highline
CC, which is located in Des Moines, Wash.
She still has the outdoor season left this
spring.
“Sheree will come into the program with some
great experience in running and I think she
has some great room for improvement,
especially in cross country once you
consider her track times,” Collins said.
“Her current personal bests are 19:36 for 5k
cross country, 2:19 for 800 meters and 4:54
for 1,500 meters. Both of her track times
would break our current school records at
those distances.”
Barbour earned All-America honors in the 800
and 1,500 in track as a freshman.
Collins says Barbour is a good student and
will earn her associates degree this spring
at Highline. She intends on studying
pre-pharmacy or biology at Lewis-Clark
State.
The Warriors placed 19th at the NAIA
national meet last fall.
