Warriors sign
former Timberlake High standout runner
Lagrimanta
1-3-08
Frank Lagrimanta,
a 2007 graduate of Timberlake High School
out of Spirit Lake, Idaho has signed a
national letter of intent to run for the
Lewis-Clark State College men's cross
country team next season.
Lagrimanta was
highly recruited last year and initially
committed to run at Montana State University
in Bozeman. However, circumstances changed
and he wound up not competing this fall.
"Frank was one of
the top kids in the 2007 recruiting class in
Idaho," LCSC coach Mike Collins says. "I
had ranked what I thought to be the top 10
runners that year in Idaho and Frank was one
of those guys.
"Once I found out
he wasn’t running I contacted him to see if
he might be interested in LCSC and we hit it
off quite well. I think the smaller school
atmosphere, the team environment and a
philosophy that takes into account the
importance of other things besides running
that we have in our program here is going to
help Frank flourish into one of the best
runners in the region, if not the nation. I
haven’t seen a runner with his type of
potential come out of the state of Idaho in
5-10 years and we feel very fortunate that
he will be running in Warrior colors this
fall."
Lagrimanta, who
will enroll at LCSC in the 2008 Fall
semester, will be a freshman
eligibility-wise in the fall.
He won both the
Idaho state Class 3A titles in the 1,600 and
3,200 runs during his junior and senior
seasons. He also won the Idaho State 3A
Cross Country titles his final two years at
Timberlake.
Lagrimanta is the
second runner in as many days to sign with
the Warrior men’s team. On Wednesday,
Collins signed Grant Eldridge, a senior from
Clackamas High School in Oregon.
