How long does it take to
get a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration?
It is
possible to complete the degree in four years, but some students will
take longer depending on their personal circumstances.
What can I do with a
business degree? Our alums have used
their degrees to become accountants, analysts, agents, bankers, brokers,
buyers, CEO’s, CFO’s, CTO’s, consultants, coordinators, directors,
economists, entrepreneurs, managers, presidents, financial planners,
hoteliers, instructors, investors, human resource managers, marketing
specialists, financial advisors, restaurateurs, supervisors, sales
representatives, vice presidents, and LEADERS.
What’s the difference
between a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business
Administration? The degrees are the same except a Bachelor of
Arts requires two years (four semesters) of a foreign language.
Can I finish the program
faster than four years?
Yes, but you would be taking more
classes than the average student. This requires a strong commitment on
your part.
Can I schedule my courses
around my work/family schedule? Many of our students work
full or part time so we try to offer courses in a rotating class format,
i.e. evenings, weekends, online, and at various outreach sites.
How much time will each
class take? A fulltime load is at least 12 credits per
semester. Most courses are 3-credit courses and meet twice a week for 1
1/4 hours. You should expect to invest at least two hours out of class
for each hour in class. If you are experiencing problems understanding
the material for a class, you may need additional time. Tutoring is
available for some courses.
When do I apply to the
program? Most high school students apply during their senior
year, but LCSC has rolling enrollment so you can apply anytime. Fall
classes start in August and Spring classes begin in January.
Will all of my credits
from previous colleges/universities transfer?
Some classes
transfer and some do not. You will need to make an appointment with the
Registrar and an advisor in the Business Division to determine what
classes will transfer. You should have your transcripts sent to the LCSC
Registrar.
Should I talk to a
Business Division Advisor? Yes, even if you are not sure that
you want to major in Business, you should meet with an advisor and
explore your options.
What is the role of an
advisor? You should meet with your Business Division advisor
at least once each semester to check your progress and schedule your
classes for the next semester. You are welcome to visit more often if
you have questions or are experiencing any problems.
What classes should I
take? You need to meet with your advisor to find out what
courses are required and what courses you need to take as prerequisites.
Some courses need to be taken in a specific order.

Are internships available?
Yes, contact the Division Office (208-792-2293) for more
information.
How do I contact my
professors? Most professors will put their preferred method
of contact on their syllabus (i.e. phone versus e-mail). Also,
professors keep regular office hours that will be posted on their office
doors. You can call the Business Division Administrative Assistant
(208-792-2293) to check office hours.
Are there minimum
requirements for staying the program?
You must maintain at
least a 2.0 in all of your coursework and at least a 2.5 in your
Business Division courses.
How many
