Professional Background:
For over twenty years, Debbie worked in Corporate America,
including at Bank of America, First Interstate Bank,
and Boise Cascade Corporation. Most of her
corporate experience was in the human resource area.
Specifically, Debbie worked for Bank of America for
six years as an Assistant Vice President and Senior
Management Training Officer, responsible for
developing and delivering training programs to all
levels of supervision and management on topics such
as situational leadership, building effective teams,
managing interpersonal relationships, stress and
time management, personnel policies and practices,
effective communications, etc. As a Senior
Training Officer for First Interstate Bank, she
continued providing management training and
development for two years and then became Manager of
Staff Relations for the State of
Washington, providing policy
interpretation and application, recommendations
regarding employee disciplinary/termination
situations, compliance to federal, state, and local
employment laws, etc. As an independent
contractor for over ten years, Debbie has provided
consulting and training to companies such as REI
Sporting Goods, Seattle Children’s Hospital and
Regional Medical Center, Associated Grocers,
University of Puget Sound, and Isothermal Systems
Research. Her expertise is in the areas of
leadership, performance management, conflict
resolution, stress and time management, problem
solving/decision making, team building, harassment
awareness, communications, career counseling,
personnel policies and practices, etc. Since
2002, Debbie has taught within the Business Division
at LCSC.
Personal:
Debbie and Larry have been married since 1983 and have two
sons, Nick and Eric. Debbie was born in
Gooding, Idaho, and lived in
Boise
during most of her upbringing. She moved to the
Seattle
area in 1982 to obtain her Masters degree from the University of Washington.
In December
1999, they moved from the Seattle area to Clarkston and attend Harvest Church.
Association, Affiliations and Special recognitions:
Debbie is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management
(SHRM).
In 2008, she received both the President’s Award for
Outstanding Teaching and the Outstanding Business
Faculty of the Year award.
Interests:
Debbie enjoys traveling, boating, reading, fishing, camping,
motorcycling, and singing.
