Middle Eastern Drumming
by Yasmin

Have fun drumming and learning the exotic beats of the Middle East. Rock & Roll, Pop, Salsa, Rap, Rhythm & Blues, American and Mexican Country Western have roots in the Middle Eastern rhythms.

Student to provide a drum or other percussive type instrument (tupperware with a lid).

1 day course

 

Yasmin has taught Middle Eastern drumming for 20 years. Yasmin taught drum workshops in Washington, Oregon and traveled extensively in Morocco to learn the dances and music. She has two Middle Eastern bands, HEJIRA and BALAAM. She also had the opportunity to learn and drum with famous Middle Eastern musicians like John Bilexikian, Uncle Mafufo of Sirocco, Michael Beach of Brothers of the Beledi, Souhail Kasper and Hossam Ramsey. In addition to drumming, Yasmin also teaches and performs Middle Eastern dancing.
