Middle Eastern
Drumming
Taught by Yasmin at LCSC
Have fun learning a different culture and the many fun
rhythms of the Middle East and Africa. You will have the
opportunity to try the many hands-on percussion instruments.
The rhythms are very infectious and it wouldn’t be
surprising that you will want to dance to the beat.
Yasmin has
taught Middle Eastern drumming for 20 years in Washington
and Oregon. She traveled extensively in Morocco to learn
the dances and music. She has two Middle eastern bands,
Hejira and Ek Balaam. She is a member of the Winchester
Museum and was percussionist and choreographer in the dance
and drum play held during the Smithsonian's Traveling event,
"Key Ingredients." at the museum. Yasmin is also the winner
of the University of Idaho's "So You Think You Can Dance
Idaho" dance competition and fall concert held December,
2006.
