Who can take Kids' College classes?
Our classes are designed for kids who are ages 6-12 by June 1, 2009.

Who teaches Kids' College classes?
Our instructors are individuals from our region who have an expertise in their topic area(s) and who are interested in teaching youth. We are committed to providing a fun, safe experience for our students and their families.  To ensure your child is secure in our care, each of our instructors must successfully complete a background check.

 

 

When do classes start and what is the schedule?
Regular Kids' College classes are 1 hour and 45 minutes each. Classes are held for 4 days a week, Monday through Thursday. 1/2 camps go from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Below is a schedule of class times and Kids' College Session dates:

*Lunch is different for kids in 1/2 day camps. Lunch for them begins at 12:00 p.m.

Do I have to sign up for all time slots in one session?
You are able to pick and choose which classes and times you would like to pick for your child to attend (depending on if the class is full). You may choose to sign up for one class or for 4 classes per session. The choice is up to you.

Do I have to sign up for all sessions?
You may chose which session(s) fit into your schedule. There is no requirement for signing up for all sessions.

What is the Minimum/Maximum number of kids in a class?
The minimum enrollment is generally seven students. Maximum enrollment is generally 12 students. Final determination will be made by Continuing Education & Community Events and the instructor.

How much are classes?
Classes are $50.00 each. If you register by our early bird deadline, classes are just $40.00 each. *Camp fees TBA

Are there other fees?
Additional fees for supplies, transportation or lab use are noted in the course description information following the Registration Fee.

Do I need to pay the transportation fee if I'm dropping off/picking up my child?
There are certain classes that require a transportation fee, such as rock climbing, gymnastics, and golf. If you take your child to his/her class and pick him/her up, the transport fee can be waived. To waive the transport fee you will need to contact the Continuing Education & Community Events office at 208-792-2447. PLEASE NOTE: If you register online, the transportation fee will not be waived.

What if I can't afford to pay for Kids' College?
There is financial aid available! You can fill out a financial aid form online or print one out and mail it, fax it, or drop it by the Kids' College office.

Pre-registration, with payment, is required for all Kids' College classes and should be received at least one week prior to the class start date.

Register early
to ensure your place in popular classes and to avoid cancellations due to low enrollment.

Register online by visiting www.lcsc.edu/ce/kidscollege. Register by phone, fax, mail or by visiting the LCSC Continuing Education & Community Events (CECE) office in downtown Lewiston.

What should my child wear?
Instructor suggestions for clothing that may enhance your learning experience are listed in class descriptions.

What are arrangements for drop off and pick up?
Drop off your child at the first class that he/she is registered for and pick him/her up at the end of the last class that he/she is registered for.

Have to work? For students who have classes beginning at 8:30 a.m. or ending at 5:00 p.m., supervision is available! For morning supervision, meet us at the Kids' College table in the SUB Solarium at 7:45 a.m. (lower floor) and we will get your child to his/her class. In the afternoon, we will pick kids up from their classes and take them to the SUB Solarium where they can be picked up by no later than 5:15 p.m. (After 5:15 p.m.- Late charges may apply)

What are arrangements for lunch?
There is a supervised lunch hour from 12:15-1:15 p.m. in the SUB Solarium (lower floor). Lunches are not provided so students will need to bring a sack lunch, or purchase a lunch. Feel free to visit the Jitterz counter, in the SUB, to view each day's menu and prices.

Will I get a reminder?
You will receive a confirmation by phone or e-mail approximately one week prior to the class start date, listing the class location, date and time, and any additional information you might need.

What if my child is unable to attend his/her my class(es)?
If you need to cancel
your registration before the first meeting of a class, we understand.

Contact us by phone or e-mail and you can ask for a refund, a credit, or a transfer to another class.

Withdraw no later than 7 days prior to start date of class to receive a full refund; withdraw 6 to 1 day prior to start date of class to receive your choice of either a refund minus a $10 administrative fee, or a full credit for use toward a future class.

Cancellation refunds may take several weeks to process.

What if my child's class is cancelled or the schedule changes?
Rare changes
in the class schedule may occur due to unforeseen circumstances or low enrollment.  

You have the option of a complete refund, a credit for a future class, or you may transfer to another class; Please note a refund may take several weeks to process.

What if my child is unhappy with his/her class?
Your Satisfaction
is our primary goal.

Our Commitment is to quality and to you. We know that our instructors are excellent and that our programs are solid, but if your class does not measure up to your expectations, let us know.
