Continuing Education & Community Events, a department of Community Programs at Lewis-Clark State College, announces an open call for speakers to join the LCSC Speakers Bureau. The Corps of Discovery & The Nimiipuu Speakers Bureau, currently providing presentations on a variety of topics involving the history and personalities of the Corps of Discovery and the Nez Perce people, is expanding to incorporate all facets of regional North Idaho history. Proposals are sought on Nez Perce culture, historic female figures, railways, seaport shipping, the lumber industry, and other topics of interest that have impacted our region. The Speakers Bureau exists to provide quality presentations and accurate information to Non-profit entities, community organizations, and educational facilities in Idaho whose events are free and open to the public. Eligible organizations may apply for up to 6 speakers annually for a fee of $25 per speaker; all fees are waived for educational facilities. Presenting speakers receive honorarium ($100 - $150) and reimbursement (travel and lodging) from the Speakers Bureau, which has received grant support from the Idaho Governor’s Lewis & Clark Trail Committee, the Idaho Humanities Council, and the Idaho Community Foundation A selection committee will evaluate all submissions, and may request a sample presentation, as part of the approval process. Proposals are due in the offices of Continuing Education & Community no later than November 1, 2007. |
