Rollie W. Hallen is our laboratory and developmental chemistry instructor. He earned his bachelors degree in Natural Science and Chemistry from LCSC in 1986 and he has a background in analytical chemistry. He has worked at LC since 1991. His personal interests include playing bass guitar and cross-country skiing.

Rachel A. Jameton, Ph.D, is an organic chemist. She received her doctorate from the University of Utah in 2001 under the direction of Dr. Cynthia Burrows. She obtained her B.A. in chemistry from Franklin and Marshall College in 1993 under the direction of Dr. Phyllis Leber. Rachel's research interests include development of closed-loop organic teaching labs, the role of green chemistry in the pharmaceutical industry and extracting natural products from Northern Idaho native plants. Her personal interests include painting, hiking and reading.

Matthew A. Johnston, Ph.D., was trained as an inorganic/organometallic chemist. He received his doctorate from the University of California, Irvine, in 2000 under the direction of Dr. William Evans. He obtained a B.S. in Chemistry from Santa Clara University in 1996. Matt's research interests include coordination chemistry of inverted and confused porphyrins, polymetallic pseudohalide clusters and pyrotechnic chemistry. He also teaches Introduction to Forensic Science and serves as the Chair of the Division of Natural Sciences & Mathematics.

Nancy Johnston, Ph.D., is an atmospheric/physical chemist. She received her doctorate from University of California, Irvine, in 2001 under the direction of Nobel Laureate F. Sherwood Rowland. She obtained a B.S. in Chemistry from William Smith College in Geneva, NY. She teaches general and physical chemistry. Her personal interests include dancing (ballet) and parenting her lovely daughter.
