General Policy
Retakes
of the COMPASS will be allowed anytime that evidence exists
that there was interference with the testing process caused
by problems with technology, distractions during testing,
health issues and similar factors as judged by the exam
proctor.
English Placement
with COMPASS
A
retake on the English COMPASS exam will be allowed no sooner
than one year after the initial test was given. For
students who feel that they have been incorrectly placed by
the COMPASS, the Director of Writing in the Division of
Humanities will administer a written examination to
determine if placement is correct. A date two weeks before
the semester commences will be set for approved COMPASS
retakes.
Math Placement with
COMPASS
One
retake on the Math COMPASS exam will be allowed. It is
recommended that unless is it not possible, this retake not
occur on the same day that the original exam was given. For
students who believe after two COMPASS exams that their
placement is incorrect, internal assessment by the math
faculty will determine placement.
Successful
Completion of Adult Basic Education Courses
Documentation
of the successful completion of an Adult Basic Education
Course that is in the content area in which a student wishes
to retest will serve as justification for one additional
COMPASS retest. |
