The
HOBET (Health
Occupations
Basic
Entrance Test)
For Applicants to the
LCSC Radiographic Science Program
WHAT IS
THE HOBET AND HOW WILL THE TEST SCORES BE USED?
The HOBET test is required for application to the
Radiographic Science Program. The intent of this
standardized exam is to assess academic skills and knowledge
already learned.
Testing
time is approximately 2.5 hours and is in a computerized
format. This is a timed test. You are allowed
so many minutes per section of the test. The computer
program will cut you off and advance you to the next section
if you exceed the time limit. The test is administered
through LCSC Center for New Directions, or depending upon
circumstances, by an appropriate off-site proctor. Testing
categories for the HOBET include: Essential
Math Skills, Reading Comprehension (rate and critical
analysis), Test-taking Skills, Stress Level, Social
Interaction Skills and Learning Style.
The
composite score on the HOBET test is one of several factors
that will be considered when deciding who will be admitted
to these nursing programs. The applicant's advisor will also
use test results to promote the student's academic success.
WHEN
MUST I TAKE THE HOBET?
You must complete the test no later than April
15th. This is the deadline for your completed AS-Rad Application.
CAN I
RETAKE THE HOBET?
You may take the HOBET test only once in
an application cycle. Retakes are not permitted.
If you have taken the HOBET previously, you may use
prior test results. Or, you may retake the test this current
year prior to the application deadline. You must notify us
on your application that you are choosing to use prior
results or tell us that you are retaking the test this year.
We will use the most current test results.
CAN I
SUBMIT HOBET TEST RESULTS EVEN IF I TAKE THE TEST AT A
DIFFERENT COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY?
Yes, you may submit HOBET test results taken at another
college or university. You must request the college or
university to send the official results directly to us.
