Nurse
Entrance
Test (NET)
For Applicant to the Practical Nursing
(PN) and Baccalaureate (BSN)
Programming
WHAT IS
THE NET, AND HOW WILL TEST SCORES BE USED?
The NET test results are required for application to
both the Practical Nursing (PN) and the Bachelor
of Sciences and Nursing (BSN) Programs. The intent of
this standardized exam is to assess academic skills and
knowledge already learned.
Testing
time is approximately 2.5 hours and is in computerized
format. This is a timed test. You are allowed
so many minutes per section of the test. The computer
program will cut you off in advance to the next section if
you exceed the time limit. The test is administered through
LCSC Center for New Directions, or depending upon
circumstances, by an appropriate off-site proctor.
Testing categories for the NET include: Essential Math
Skills, Reading Comprehension (rate and critical analysis),
Test-taking Skills, Stress Level, Social Interaction Skills,
and Learning Style.
The
composite score on the NET is one of several factors that
will be considered when deciding who will be admitted to
these programs. The applicant's advisor will also use test
results to promote the student's academic success.
WHEN
MUST I TAKE THE NET?
PN Applicants (LPN or PN)
You must take the appropriate test no later than
November 1st. This is the deadline for your
completed LPN or PN application.

CAN I
RETAKE THE NET?

accompany your application for this academic year, you
may take the test only once. There are no retakes.
If you took
the NET in the last academic year, you may use
those prior test results or choose to retake the test this
current year prior to the application deadline. You must
notify us on your application that you are choosing to use
prior results or tell us that you are retaking the
test this year. We will use the most current test results.
CAN I
SUBMIT NET TEST RESULTS EVEN IF I TAKE THE TEST AT A
DIFFERENT COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY?
